Women & Football

So I was doing some random late night internet roaming and I read some dumb, pointless article on Cosmo.com about how women actually like football.

Yeah... So what?

So like I normally do, I scrolled down to read the comments below the article and what I saw, ticked. me. offf.

Now, normally I see a bunch of things that make me upset but I never feel the need to comment, because it really is mostly just a waste of time. But, something about this made me so angry, maybe because it IS something that I really care about. So here is what got me riled up.

Man-I call total BS! women only watch football and other similar sports because its the only way they are going to get included into what their guys are doing. There is absolutely NO way a women can possibly have the same type comradery that a man has in terms of men bonding over sports. I hate seeing this type of article making women think this some type of new thing women should be doing. Read further and you'll find "cosmopolitan" giving advice on how these women can get closer to their "bf" "husbands" by learning the games. This is ridiculous...let the guys have their sports... stop trying to act like its that important to you, find other ways to get close to your guy.

Woman-I call total ignorance! I'm a female college junior and I have been watching not only football but basketball, baseball, and hockey since I was in 7th grade. Now I'm working at a TV station studying sports broadcasting and sports television production, and some of my best friend and I bond over food and football. How about you let the girls have their sports?

Man- yes let the "girls" have their sports.... but what can you possible know about what's like to get hit by a 300lb linebacker or your ass slapped (without calling it sexual harassment) I say your brainwashed by feminist who think its ok to let women (girls) think they can play football or other aggressive male sports. Just because you watch it (or report on it) doesn't mean you know anything about it (the rules sure... a third grader knows the rules) but to really understand what's going on? come on... get off your soap box.

Man-Jordan just be a woman! be a prideful woman, just don't take it personal. Let the guys have their sports or live vicariously through their teams. Its not a derogatory hing to say you're not cut out to be a football player or understand whats its like to be one

This just made me soo mad!!! I mean, there is just so much wrong with his statements that I don't even know where to begin. I do agree with him that some women don't like it and just do it to get closer to their husbands, but I know that for me, football is one of my favorite things (and no, cosmo, it has nothing to do with men in skintight pants) and I know a whole heck of a lot about it. My dad taught me all about it and I truly love the sport. So I probably should have just left him to his ignorance but, I couldn't resist so I replied.

Me-Are you for real? Your arguement is completely invalid considering that a lot of guys have never actually played football outside backyard fooling around, so i doubt that most of the men watching football "understand what its like".
Not only that, while some women pretend to enjoy football and other sports to impress guys, there are indeed alot of women that actually enjoy it, including myself. In fact im pretty sure that i understand the game just as well, if not better than most men. I have loved football long before I became interested in guys.
I am not real big on feminist crap, but I do think you are dead wrong to say that just because I am a girl I cannot possibly really understand or enjoy football. You can be a "woman" and understand football and find it important.

Man-come on, you're gonna have to better than that. am I for real? my argument is invalid? seriously? after all it's my opinion...and I don't care to argue with you or any woman about this subject. There's absolutely NOTHING you can say that's going to change the facts here and I'm not even talking about my own opinion. Read what I have said again before commenting. Understand what I'm saying..if you can. again be the beautiful woman you are, stop trying to live with one foot as a man. You have plenty of things to be proud of and fight for

Me-Why do you feel that actually, honestly enjoying and understanding football means that I am trying to live with one foot as a man? I am fully feminine, with no interest in trying to be just like a man. God has made me female and I am comfortable with the fact that He made me equal but different than a man. I do have plenty of things to be proud of, including the fact that i can have a really good, intelligent debate/conversation with any man or woman about football, or anything else.
All I can see is that you'd rather not actually adress my arguement, instead you'd rather just say that you won't argue with a woman about this. I have read what you have said, but you seem to be confused about the difference between facts and opinions. You have stated your opinion, which I countered, but you have not stated any facts.

So Im sure he will eventually respond, but at least for now that is where it has ended.
I do want to say that I have not met any other guy that likes football that would rather me "just leave it alone". Most guys think that its incredibly cool that I know so much about football and that I can have an intelligent discussion about football. Guys tell me all the time that my boyfriend is a lucky guy because their wives/gfs really hate watching/talking football.
I also want to say that I played fantasy football this year for the first time and was the #1 coach in my league.

So basically, screw you dude.

In Everything Give Thanks.

New Music That I am Obsessed With

Powerful Stuff- Sean Hayes

Hell On Heels- Pistol Annies

You and Tequila (feat Grace Potter)- Kenney Chesney

I Will Exalt- Bethel Live

The verse of the week fits in perfectly with this weeks holiday.
1st Thessalonians 5:18
"In everything give thanks to God for this is His will for you in Christ Jesus."
Btw, that was paraphrased.
I learned something this week. I learned that when I get grumpy and butt heads with people and I am really contentious, it is not because people are being really dumb,it is because I have forgotten to be thankful. When I beccome thankful for everything, I become more joyful and people do not bother me.
Hmmm.
I am going to work on that.

Rant #1

This is a caffiene-fueled rant- fair warning.

So I'm in college now. I love college and I love the campus, the classes, the atmosphere. I love it, I really do. But some things, they just tick. me. off.

Item Number One
I went to the Homecoming dance. I bought a little, black dress and I looked classy hot. I was there with some girlfriends (boyfriend had mono) and we were there to have fun and dance. Now, I understand that people like to grind as a form of "dancing" and honestly, while I think that its kinda dumb, I also feel that people can do whatever they want. What bothers me is this: My friend and I were dancing together and having fun and all of a sudden, this guy comes up behind her, grabs her hips and starts grinding on her. She whirled around and pushed him away, but he wouldn't take no for answer. He then told her that she was being rude, even though she was being way, way nicer about it than I would have been (side note: I've been known to kick guys when they think it ok to grab my butt). RUDE?! W.T.F? You know what rude is mister frat boy? Rude is when you don't even bother asking a girl to dance, don't even bother to introduce yourself. Rude is when you come up behind someone and try to rub your gentilia against their body. Thats rude. So don't tell me or my friends that WE are being rude.
Now, thats just part one of the problem. See, maybe I shouldn't blame him. The more I thought about I realized that he believes that he has a right to do that and any girl that has a problem with that is just "tripping". Why is that? Oh yeah, I forgot.
Most girls don't care.
Most girls there were bent over, hands on the floor, looking like they were having sex right there on the dance floor.
Most girls there "just go with it"
The most ironic thing I have seen in a long while was that whole ballroom dancing to Beyonce's "Girls Run The World". That song is playing and every girl in there is bent over rubbing their asses up against every guy's junk. I'll betcha not one of those guys has to even ask for it. Is that what girls running the world looks like?
Now, to you girls that think I'm "just jealous" or "mad because they didn't want to dance with me", you are dead wrong.
It makes me sick to my stomach to see each and every one of you behaving like that and I'll tell you why. You are intelligent and beautiful women, but on that dance floor, those guys aren't thinking about that.
The reason I don't dance like that is this. I respect my body and I know darn well that those guys have not earned the right to be rubbing up against me just because there is music playing. None of those guys have earned a right to even touch without my say so. My boyfriend is the only guy who is allowed to touch me without "asking" and if I asked him not to, he wouldn't. He sure as heck would never try to grind on me like that.

I'm not trying to come off as someone who is old-fashioned and a prude and like I said before, I really don't care what YOU want to do on the dance floor. I just have a problem with the fact that girls have allowed it to be acceptable to not ask for permission to dance with them, especially when the dancing is basically simulated sex.

Anyways, thats my first caffiene fueled rant.
:)
I really do love college though.

I need a man :)

"The reason I say feminism is a crock is because it has morphed from 'equal rights for all' to 'women are better than men, and if you disagree, you're a sexist pig who should be castrated'." Pam Meister

I am not a feminist in the way our culture would want. I believe a woman should get equal pay for equal work. I believe women should vote. I believe that while women are equals to men, they have different strengths and weaknesses.I believe that women are amazing creatures who have a range of innate gifts that men do not have.
What I want to do most is to have a bunch of babies and be a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother who takes care of her family. Very old-fashioned, I know.
I need a man for that :)
I want to be like my mother and my grandmothers...amazing women.
More on that later...

So this is dedicated to the guy who doesn't even read my blog.
Love you too dear
Just kidding.... :P

So I'm headed to see my lovely niece and nephew tommorrow.
I'm kinda excited about that, but at the same time I want to stay home :(
I got to see my boyfriend today, he cheered me up after having a spectacularly sucktastic day.
I got a ticket. :((
Don't ask how fast I was going....on the ticket it says 7769 in a 60.
Mr policeman was very kind.
Won't be doing that again.
Sigh...
And just so you know, I had a reason for speeding.
I was trying to avoid the crazy maniac drivers who were trying to kill me!

So, my very special guy...
Well, its been 5 and half months and it just gets better.
He is so super special to me.

Truth

Man, see some folks say, "All truth is relative, it just depends on what you believe." You know, "hey man, ain't no way to know for sure who God is or what's really true." But that means you believe your own statement; that there's no way to know what's really true. You're saying that that statement is true. You're killing yourself. If what's true for you is true for you and what's true for me is true for me, what if my truth says your's is a lie? Is it still true? Come on man

See, there's this thing called "Secular Humanism", it says man is the source of all meaning and all purposing. You know what i'm saying? We're just the result of a big cosmic explosion. We don't really have a purpose or meaning, so we just come up with our own purpose. We're the source of our meaning and our purpose. How can a man, which is the product of chance, a finite being be the source of purpose and meaning? You can't! You're created with purpose

Look, man, some people say that God ain't real 'cause they don't see how a good God can exsist with all this evil in the world. If God is real then He should stop all this evil, 'cause He's all-powerful right? What is evil though man? It's anything that's against God. It's anything morally bad or wrong. It's murder, rape, stealing, lying, cheating. But if we want God to stop evil, do we want Him to stop it all or just a little bit of it? If He stops us from doing evil things, what about lying, or what about our evil thoughts? I mean, where do you stop, the murder level, the lying level, or the thinking level? If we want Him to stop evil, we gotta be consistent, we can't just pick and choose. That means you and I would be eliminated right? Because we think evil stuff. If that's true, we should be eliminated

Lyrics taken from Truth-Lecrae.

Just something to think about :)
