"The reason I say feminism is a crock is because it has morphed from 'equal rights for all' to 'women are better than men, and if you disagree, you're a sexist pig who should be castrated'." Pam Meister
I am not a feminist in the way our culture would want. I believe a woman should get equal pay for equal work. I believe women should vote. I believe that while women are equals to men, they have different strengths and weaknesses.I believe that women are amazing creatures who have a range of innate gifts that men do not have.
What I want to do most is to have a bunch of babies and be a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother who takes care of her family. Very old-fashioned, I know.
I need a man for that :)
I want to be like my mother and my grandmothers...amazing women.
More on that later...
I think you're referring to a stereotyping of feminists. I'm a feminist (equal rights for all) and I do not believe women are inherently better than men.
ReplyDeleteAlso - from my perspective - our culture doesn't really want feminists at all. They want everyone to settle down and behave. There's an idea that we've achieved equality in America and that there's no more need for people to make a fuss about oppression.
There's no shame in being old-fashioned, but you do have a choice to be old-fashioned these days. Staying at home and making babies used to be what was expected and demanded of a woman. And then some people started making a fuss...
